Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness.

As Americans we have heard that phrase originally penned in the Declaration of Independence our entire lives. But most do not know the details of how hard it was for Jefferson to write that document to the satisfaction of most of the congress at that time. I'm not going to get into those details. Your smart, if your Google isn't broke do your own research.

The purpose of today's post is to remind people that without the concept of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness we would not have a country. We, as a colony, would still be subjugated by a tyrannical government dictating how we should live from across the Atlantic. Not that our current system hasn't moved away from what was intended by these documents but that's another post for another time.

Without the ability to pursue Life, Liberty and Happiness within our lives we would not be a free people. But without the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution we would not have the ability to keep our inalienable rights. The term Inalienable Rights refers to the Rights that cannot be surrendered, sold or transferred to someone else without our permission. If they are taken from us by force it is considered an illegal act. To insure those Rights are not taken from us by force is the entire purpose of the 2nd Amendment. Not hunting or target shooting. It is to insure no government can take our rights away without our permission.

Unfortunately we have given many of our rights away for the sake of feeling safe and secure. But that's all it is, a feeling. Without the ability to rise up and regain control we are doomed to being subjugated once again. Without the 2nd Amendment, none of the other Rights guaranteed us by the Constitution of the United States can be kept. The passage within the amendment shall not be infringed is just as important as the right to keep and bear arms.

The concept of "Oh, you can can keep and bear arms but only the type of arms and ammunition we approve of" should offend every American to their core. The individuals who think this way are usually scared sheep looking to the shepherd to protect them. But the shepherd will only protect them until the sheep are no longer useful or to the extent they are able. Meanwhile the shepherd will continue to take and take from the sheep. If the time comes that the sheep are no longer useful the shepherd will turn on the sheep and either no longer offer protection or kill the sheep himself.

Without the 2nd Amendment you have no protection for:

  • 2nd Amendment = 1st - Freedom of religion, assembly, press, petition or speech

  • 2nd Amendment = 3rd - to keep soldiers from forcibly staying in your home.

  • 2nd Amendment = 4th - not having your property searched without a due process warrant.

  • 2nd Amendment = 5th - ability to not incriminate yourself.

  • 2nd Amendment = 6th - guaranties you have a public trail with a lawyer

  • 2nd Amendment = 7th - 27th. ALL OF THEM

or the ability to pursue Life, Liberty and Happiness.

Whether you exercise your rights is up to you. If you don't want to arm yourself... don't. But understand that whether you exercise or do not exercise your rights it is only due to the 2nd Amendment that you can do so. And when you do exercise a right, it doesn't give you the right to trample mine in the process.

Stay free America.
